Holding Fire
Stephen Christopher Nill, JD | CharityChannel Press
Most development professionals carry a version of the same quiet frustration: there are more donor relationships in the portfolio than any one person can personally attend to. This book shows you how to use AI to give every donor the kind of personal attention that was previously possible for only your top prospects, in ways that amplify your judgment and your humanity rather than replacing them.
The book includes ten chapters, two appendices, and a hands-on Practice Portfolio you can start using this week.

Personalized Philanthropy: Crash the Fundraising Matrix
Steven L. Meyers, PhD | CharityChannel Press | Second Edition
Most fundraising departments organize themselves around gift type: annual giving, major gifts, planned giving. The divisions make administrative sense, but they work against donors, who rarely think about their philanthropy in those categories. Steven Meyers calls this the Fundraising Matrix, and this book is about how to break out of it.
The alternative is personalized philanthropy: a donor-focused approach that designs gifts to mesh what the donor most wants to accomplish with what the organization most needs to sustain. Meyers introduces three practical gift designs, which he calls killer apps, that make this possible across a full spectrum of donors, resources, and timelines. The second edition adds a career guide for the aspiring enlightened generalist, the gift officer who has learned to work across traditional boundaries to build lasting philanthropic partnerships.
It is required reading for gift officers in planned or major giving who have felt constrained by the silos they were hired into.
