Two Minutes to the Sound of Silence

Did you hear the news? The Doomsday clock is now just two minutes to midnight. Midnight is an atomic nightmare that none of us wants to even think about.

My first grandchild is about to be born, baby Stetson Thorp. That got me to thinking. How could I possibly explain this to him, once he and I can chat?

And THAT got me to thinking: What if we viewed the world through the eyes of a child? How could there possibly be nuclear war?

Stetson isn't even born and already he's taught me something profound.

Last night, some words came to me and some musical ideas that I'm playing with at my piano. I'm hearing, in my mind, a choir and full orchestra. (If you are a musician or singer, drop me a note. Maybe we could make a virtual choir.)

In the meantime, here's a little arrangement I did of the famous Paul Simon song, Sound of Silence. I pray we never hear the sound ... of silence.

Doomsday clock is just a propaganda for scientists to get their research funding. We are just too well off to worry about a lot of nonsense like global warming, a nuclear war started from North Korea and terrorist attack from ISIS.

Life is beautiful and we should simply enjoy it.
