Ellen Bristol, president of Bristol Strategy Group, works with nonprofit organizations to improve their fundraising effectiveness, raise income, and involve their boards more effectively. Ellen has an unusual background for such an influential fundraising expert: she spent nearly twenty years selling mainframe computers before establishing her consulting practice in 1995 and has never worked for a nonprofit organization. She launched Bristol Strategy Group with a mission to adapt the benefits of formal process management to the field of corporate sales but quickly realized that her passion lay in the social sector. Nonprofit executives from all over the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, China, and even the Galapagos Islands have benefited from completing the Leaky Bucket Assessment.

Ellen, who launched her first business, a day-care program, at age 14, graduated from Columbia University with a degree in English literature. Her first paid job was as an avant-garde modern dancer. She had a short career as a magazine editor before launching her career in information technology.

She currently serves on the board of her local AFP chapter, AFP Broward (Florida), and is a member of the Professional Advancement Division of AFP International, where she sits on the Research Council. In addition to her work with AFP, Ellen is a member of the Florida Speakers Association, the Association of Psychological Type, and the Broward County Chamber of Nonprofit Organizations. She is a regular volunteer teacher at LEAP for Ladies, a local program providing training in business skills and entrepreneurship to women in prison.

Linda Lysakowski, ACFRELinda Lysakowski, ACFRE, is graduate of Alvernia University and AFP’s Faculty Training Academy, receiving the designation Master Teacher for the latter. She is one of one hundred professionals worldwide to hold the Advanced Certified Fund Raising Executive designation.
