Class: Tackling Tough Times: Are You Positioned and Grant-Ready?

Offers beginning to advanced grant professionals discussion, techniques and suggestions to prepare for difficult fundraising times by addressing the Workshop Objectives to:

  • Learn the "3 Rs of grant seeking" as fundraising;

  • Understand how to position your organization differently for tough times;

  • Learn about a "CHECKLIST FOR SUCCESS" that provides a process to engage prospects/organizations, and offers results-oriented products;

  • Share stories and successful/best-practice models regarding organizational development/capacity building (i.e., teaching clients "to fish");

  • Recognize skills and comps that enhance capacity building; and

  • Learn a process, tips and approaches to deal with infrastructure issues such as needs assessment, project and budget development as well as funding research.

Benefits to grant professionals are:

  • All presentation objectives are beneficial to all levels of grant professionals, especially learning capacity building/infrastructure skills whether they are staff or consultants; and

  • Learn from an experienced grant consultant so that participants can identify skills, utilize resources, renew, network and energize!

GPCI competencies:

  • Knowledge of methods and strategies that cultivate and maintain relationships between fund-seeking and recipient organizations and funders.

Class Format: This class is recorded from the live class on March 19, 2010. About the Instructor

Linda Gatten Butler, MSW, ACSW, LISW-S, has her Masters in Social Work from the Ohio State University with emphasis on planning and administration, is an member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers, Founder and Past President of the Miami Valley Ohio Chapter of AAGP, national AAGP board member, and a Licensed Independent Social Worker. She is a senior fundraising consultant and President of Butler Consulting for 16 years, specializing in grants seeking and managing services, with more than 35 years of clinical, administrative and fundraising experience in both the private and public sectors of health, mental health, education, environment, arts, faith-based, housing and human services for over 100 non-profit and public organizations in the Miami Valley of Ohio.
