About Me
Jonathan W. Howard of Cause & Effect Inc. has more than 20 years of fundraising, professional communications and strategic planning experience in the nonprofit sector. His expertise includes strategic, business and program planning for nonprofits, direct response fundraising and planning and execution of nonprofit communications programs.
His clients include advocacy and service organizations in a wide range of endeavors, including the environment, the arts, social services and education. Jon’s work has taken him to Colombia, Guatemala, Honduras, Senegal, Haiti, Albania, the Philippines, Australia, and the United Kingdom. He produced two major exhibits on children and their living environments which he presented at the United Nations in New York City, in Turkey and Japan.
Prior to creating Cause & Effect in 1996, Jon was principal of Jon Howard Strategic Communications, a communications agency serving nonprofits and businesses. Jon also served for seven years as Information Coordinator for PLAN International, a $150 million international development nonprofit with programs in 40 countries. At PLAN he developed and implemented communication strategies to support program and institutional activities.
Jon is a member of the New England Direct Marketing Association, and serves on the Board of Youth In Action, a community-based partnership of youth and adults working to mentor and engage youth in social change. In the past, Jon has served on the board of RiverzEdge Arts Project in Woonsocket, RI, the Friends of the Moshassuck and is past President and board member of the Summit Neighborhood Association in Providence, RI.
