From the outset, I must confess, I have researched a grand total of 3 prospects! Most fundraising professionals will have moved far beyond this stage, but I am going to mention the few things I've learned in the past couple of months about the steps behind acquiring a major donor. Though I am far from an expert, I hope to offer some insights that might be helpful for beginners or give perspective to long-time prospectors from an outsider's viewpoint.
