About Me
Susan F. Rice is a management consultant on fundraising for non-for-profit organizations with her firm, SFR Consulting, and as senior consulting associate with Brakeley Briscoe Inc. She is also an adjunct lecturer at Pepperdine University's Graduate School of Education and Psychology, teaching in the Social Entrepreneurship and Change Masters program. Prior to consulting, Dr. Rice was the president and chief executive officer of the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association. Before this appointment, Dr. Rice was employed as vice president of Business Executives for National Security (BENS) in Washington, D.C., the deputy director of development for Special Olympics International and director of alumni and development for the UCLA Anderson Graduate School of Management in Los Angeles.
Earlier in her career, Susan taught political science at Santa Monica College and directed the governmental relations program at UCLA, recipient of an award from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). She holds a lifetime Advanced Certified Fund Raising Executive credential, a distinction held by fewer than 100 people, and holds Administrator and Supervisor Credentials from the California Community Colleges.
She is a charter founder of the Women's Refugee Commission, and at UCLA serves on the boards of the Foundation, of Women and Philanthropy, and the Luskin School of Public Affairs. She is an officer of Pepperdine University and serves as co-chair of the capital campaign of Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame, Indiana. She is an investor and board member of Radlink, Inc-- a digital medical imaging company.
Susan served the League of Women Voters of California as president, and during that time (1979-1981) co-chaired or led seven nonpartisan ballot measure campaigns. She earned an Ed.D. from Pepperdine's Graduate School of Education and Psychology (GSEP) where she serves as chair of its board of visitors and vice-chair of its capital campaign. She holds an MPA degree from UCLA and a B.A.degree from Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame. She has been honored as a distinguished alumna by Pepperdine's GSEP and Saint Mary's College.
