About Me

Gail S. Meltzer, CFRE has been a senior development officer in the nonprofit arena for thirty years, her last ten as a consultant. She began her career at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida and over the decades has created and implemented comprehensive fund development programs and campaigns for many organizations spanning the health, social services, cultural, educational and animal welfare arenas.

Gail is proficient and experienced in all areas of fund development, including annual, capital and endowment campaigns; foundation development; planned giving; galas and special events; direction and planning for volunteer support groups; and public relations and marketing plans to support development activities, particularly in preparation for major campaigns. Her special areas of interest and expertise are board development and education with regard to fund raising responsibilities, and creating and sustaining major gifts programs.

An active member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) since 1984, Gail has been a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) continuously since 1990. She has held several leadership positions in the organization as well as the National Committee on Planned Giving (NCPG). She was the founding president of the Jacksonville Chapter of AFP.

Gail is a member of Class XIX of Leadership Broward and of the 1987 class of Leadership Jacksonville. Gail has a B.A. from Rutgers University and extensive continuing education in all areas of fund raising. She also has been writing about fundraising for years (her latest article on cumulative giving appeared in the November/December 2010 issue of Advancing Philanthropy, the journal of the Association of Fundraising Professionals with a circulation of 30,000 print and 1,200 digital), and is a skilled trainer. She is currently serving on the board of the Leadership Broward Foundation, Fort Lauderdale, Florida and had the distinction of receiving the 2010 CEO Award for exceptional board service.
