In her latest workbook Gottlieb takes aim at the notion that a central activity of board members is to ask for money from prospective donors. Rather, she says that "[w]e need to start building an army of friends, an army of support. Those friendships are the key to building sustainable efforts to improve the quality of life in our communities."
