About Me
I have had a lifelong calling to serve persons with disabilities. While still in high school, it was through my personal relationship with Christ that I felt the need to devote a career and seek a path that would lead me to this calling.
I attended the University of Kansas for a degree in Recreational Therapy and minor in Special Education.
Through my volunteer work and jobs in college, I was led to an internship with Special Olympics. From there I went on to work for various state chapters before going to work for Special Olympics International as a regional director for North America. From there I was called to the international headquarters where I served as the Vice President of Regional Operations in Washington DC. I travelled for several years to many different countries, over 75, developing programs, building grass roots organizations, meeting with government officials, advocating for persons with disabilities, coordinating special events, managing grants, training volunteers, developing policies and programming, and fundraising.
My final 5 years with Special Olympics I served as Managing Director of Special Olympics Asia Pacific, based in New Delhi, India. I helped build the India program into the largest and strongest program in the world today. I developed new country programs in Afghanistan, East Timor, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Brunei.
After returning to the US, I changed my focus to foundation work and helped establish the first ever National Bowling Foundation, and served as its first Executive Director. This foundation is the charitable arm of the sport of bowling.
I am currently leading my own support services organization that assists people with disabilities with job coaching, recreational therapy, fitness and life skills. I also work in Special Education.
