About Me
I hold an MA in Journalism from The Ohio State University, an MS in Administration from Central Michigan University and a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from the University of Illinois at Chicago. I have worked for non-profits in fund development and administration for many years, have worked with the boards of the organizations I’ve served, have overseen the implementation of the programs for which I helped secure funding, have managed and overseen the budgets for these programs, have worked with various volunteer groups, and have established relationships in the community. I practically “fell” into non-profit development when I accepted to serve as my alma mater’s grant writer. Over the years, I’ve served various organizations, ranging from legal services to city government of a low-income, minority suburb in SW Ohio to a charter school for at-risk, drop-out youth which started out as a HUD YouthBuild program. I’m also one of the founders of an after-school program for low-income children. Over the years, I’ve written numerous grants that address issues such as early childhood education, disabilities, homelessness, domestic violence, immigration, mental health, substance abuse, HIV/AIDS, workforce readiness skills, economic development, etc. I’ve also published a historical biography, articles, short stories, annual reports, newsletters and product brochures. If “the surveys” are right, I am one of the lucky few who can honestly say that they love their job and love what they do.

CharityChannel's WE REVIEW
CharityChannel members who have been admitted to the WE REVIEW Contributors Panel are eligible to receive recently-published books from a variety of publishers (and some self-publishers) to review. Reviews are not limited to books published by CharityChannel Press, the publishing project of the CharityChannel professional community. If you are interested in reviewing books, you are welcome to apply. Note that, even though WE REVIEW has been publishing reviews for over a decade, it has recently been reorganized and re-launched. We took the opportunity to remove prior reviews, since our focus is on newly published books.
