About Me
Nonprofit administrator, educator, grant writer, performing artist, musician, community activist, advocate for children and youth -- for the last 20 years, I have integrated my various experiences and knowledge into my current calling serving communities locally in the San Francisco Bay Area, California and throughout the nation.
My areas of experience and practice include: Nonprofit management and organization; grants (prospect research/proposal writing); educational equity; cultural competency; diversity issues; Filipino-American history and research; youth leadership development and advocacy; legislation and policy issues related to educational access for low-income youth; civic engagement, and the performing arts (comedy, dance, theater, music).
Volunteer Service: For the past 6 years, I have been the administrator of the Santa Clara Valley Chapter of the Filipino American National Historical Society (FANHS) in San Jose, California, the eighth chapter out of 28 chapters nationwide of the Filipino American National Historical Society (FANHS). I also serve on the following boards: San Francisco Filipino-American Jazz Festival, and Mission College's Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institution (AANAPISI) in Santa Clara, and De Anza College's IMPACT AAPI Consortium.
My professional affiliations include: Association of Fundraising Professionals; Grant Professionals Association; Actors Equity Association; and the Screen Actors Guild/American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.
I have participated as a grants panel reviewer for the following organizations and agencies: U.S. Department of Education; San Francisco Small Schools Initiative; San Francisco Arts Commission; Arts Council Silicon Valley, and California Volunteers.

Ron Muriera Southern Poverty Law Center Offers Funding for Educational Support for At-Risk Students
The Southern Poverty Law Center is currently accepting proposals to fund legal work designed to improve the quality of educational services and support for students who have behavioral and emotional problems and may be at risk for entering the juvenile and criminal justice systems. Grantees will receive $75,000, which is renewable for up to two additional years (three years total).
Interested applicants should contact Jerri Katzerman, at jerri.katzerman@splcenter.org. The application deadline is September 16, 2011.
