About Me
Claire Axelrad, J.D., CFRE, a former attorney who has been a development professional for close to 30 years, currently serves as Director of Development and Marketing for Jewish Family and Children's Services of San Francisco, the Peninsula, Marin and Sonoma Counties (JFCS), where she has worked for more than two decades. Claire oversees all development planning, implementation and evaluation, including annual, grant, endowment and capital fundraising efforts. Last year JFCS generated $15 million in contributions with a $30 million operating budget.
Hand-in-hand with her fundraising responsibilities, Claire oversees brand strategy and comprehensive marketing communications for all development, volunteer activities and program publicity. Her goal is “multi-channel” integration of online and offline constituent relationship management strategies -- web, email, direct mail, phone, social networking and brand management -- in a manner that is consistent with a customer-centric focus that builds lasting loyalty and strategic relationships.
Areas of focus include building a strong volunteer insfrastructure to support development efforts, and working through a moves management framework to develop donors along a stewardship continuum -- from awareness... to education/interest... to involvement... and investment.
Claire has also served as the chief development professional for the San Francisco Conservatory of Music as well as the statewide California School of Professional Psychology.
Claire has served on the boards of directors of both the National Society of Fund Raising Executives (now AFP) and the Northern California Planned Giving Council.
