About Me
Ashley brings to her work nearly 20 years of personal volunteerism and professional work with nonprofit organizations. At JVA Consulting, Ashley has guided over 50 groups in their organizational and leadership development through individual consulting and technical assistance, facilitated over 100 meetings to assist nonprofit organizations envision their future and create new programs, and led 10 organizations through strategic and business planning.
Ashley also has overseen and written successful grants that resulted in more than $30 million to the fields of education, technology and the arts. A gifted trainer, Ashley has presented 32 workshops for JVA clients on fundraising, collaboration, communications and board development, and she has taught art history at Colorado State University. In 2009, Ashley's clients have included the Colorado Interfaith Power and Light, Fort Collins Musicians Association, Hands of the Carpenter, USA Track & Field Colorado as well as the 36 small- to medium-sized organizations participating in JVA’s Colorado Compassion Initiative.
She has also led numerous trainings this year on collaboration, fundraising, governance, leadership and organizational transparency. Always involved in her community, Ashley was co-founder of an early childhood education program in Denver and of a youth art club for elementary school children in Loveland. Before joining JVA, Ashley was the program director for the Colorado Endowment for the Humanities, where she guided applicants on writing grant proposals, administered grant awards and coordinated all program presentations. She has also served as a grant reviewer for the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District in Denver, and as a museum education consultant for the Denver Art Museum and the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities. Ashley has a Bachelor of Arts in technical journalism/public relations from Colorado State University and a Master of Arts in art history from the University of Denver.
She lives in Loveland, Colorado and must have heard the "I'm a Woman" song by Peggy Lee too many times! On a daily basis, she strives to balance her career with her personal life. In the late afternoons, she fights distractions from her sons running back and forth downstairs (yes, with doors slamming as they go from inside to outside and back again). She says that she is very good at focusing intently in her home office which is a remote location for JVA Consulting's 25-person firm based in Denver.
